
According to MiningWeekly, citing Reuters, data released by the Central Bank of the Democratic Republic of Congo, Africa’s largest copper producer, showed that in the first quarter, the country’s copper production increased by 51% year-on-year, and cobalt production increased by 37%.
Statistics show that in the first three months, the Central African country produced 572,983 tons of copper and 28,990 tons of cobalt.
The Democratic Republic of Congo is the world’s largest producer of cobalt, which is used to make batteries for electric vehicles and other electronic devices.
In the first quarter, the gold output of the Democratic Republic of Congo was 7,797 kilograms, a year-on-year increase of 4.4%.
In the first half of the year, among the world’s major copper-producing countries, Chile’s copper output declined and Peru’s output increased slightly.
According to statistics from the BNAmericas website, in the first half of the year, Chile’s copper output was about 2.65 million tons, down 5.3% year-on-year.
Statistics from the Peruvian Ministry of Energy and Mines show that in the first six months, the country’s copper output accumulated to 1.08 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 1.2%.
